2008 can be called the Year of the Charice.Although many expect last year that Charice will achieve what she has achieved last year, it is still amazing how all these things unfolded. This year, she had a date with Andre Boccelli, Oprah, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Josh Groban and other A-list stars. She also guested in high profile shows (Oprah, Good Morning America, Paul O’ Grady), had a concert in the class of Josh Groban, Brian McKnight, Michael Buble, and Peter Cetera, top-class exclusive charity events, and performance in front of the top 1% of the world’s richest (Warren Buffet, Donald Trump).

Truly, 2008 was her year. But 2009 promises to be an even bigger year. Here are just some of what people think will come to Charice in 2009.

Before we make predictions. Let us put this year in perspective – Her year started with a performance in Barack Obama Inauguration. That said:

  • Number 1 in the Billboard Charts – All prayers for this. It just takes one song that really fits her and I have no doubt she will get there.
  • High Profile Duet with Justin Timberlake, David Archuleta, and Josh Groban - I am banking more on a Josh Groban and Charice collaboration on her album, then a David Archuleta -  Charice single.
  • More International Live Performances – We are talking Japan, China, U.K., Mexico, Dubai, Australia. She is already slated for Cambodia and Singapore this year. Trivia: Anybody knows how many countries Charice visited since Ellen?
  • Advertising Deals in the Philippines – She is bound to have a high profile commercial in our country. (And) No, I am not talking about Magic Sing.
  • Host Oprah’s Kiddie Talent Show! – The girl who started this rumor was also the first to predict Charice singing in Obama’s pre inauguration. Do you think she is right the second time?
  • Tapped for a Movie Soundtrack - When I heard her sing And I am Telling You, I knew she could top whatever Jennifer Hudson did. I will not be surprised if she sings a theme song for one of the summer blockbusters or an Academy Award front runner.
  • Be The Voice of a Disney/Pixar Movie – Lea Salonga in the Era of Digital Animation.
  • Album Tour Around the U.S. – When she launches her album, this is the first logical thing that she should do!

    I laughed at the Magic Sing reference. Here in Philippine malls, some stores have hired singers to sing in the mall’s hallway with their trusty magic sing. Annoying. But if Cha sings in a mall with a Magic Sing, I might buy!

    Prediction for 2009 – Charice will be singing with Whitney. ..She will promote some US companies/products might be PEPSI? KIDS related products, branded products, etc. Will have a duet with a rapper..Will win a grammy award next year? Will be a nominee in some major events. Will sing in an ice figure skating championships and sports championships. Will sell more copies of her album in South Korea & other countries. Will be singing in Canada’s sports activities such as ice hockey, ice skating, and perhaps the winter olympics in vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 2010? Will have a Christmas album at the last quarter of this year. Will be invited by influential people on their birthdays, weddings, etc. Will be on Wowowee tours for along time? Will have a concert in European countries. Some US well known artists will be proud of her. She will be a multi-platinum artist in May..She will sell more copies of her album. She will attend grammys, emmy award or whatever…more predictions to come..hehe..

    David Foster will write at least one mega-hit for her debut album, which he’s producing. Music legend Clive Davis (with whom she has signed) and Warner Brothers will put her at the top of their stable of new artists . She’ll win a Grammy. She’ll make signicant donations to worthwhile charities. She’ll buy new homes in both the Philippines and the US that she and her family will share. She will tour US, Canada, Philippines, and Korea to promote her debut album (summer?), performing in major venues with surprise guest Celine Dion at MSG. Will have a huge bash for her 17th birthday (May 10) with many of the artists with whom she has performed in attendance.

    Will have her own show. Will be nominated for different categories for grammy awards! will win a grammy award – best new female artist! Will stay in the US after 20 years old. I think my prediction was right that she’s going to sing with whitney housin in las vegas in May. more to come….

    Hmmm… I can smell a Billboard Hot 100 #1 single (fingers crossed) that’s by a pure Filipino… the first since “Sukiyaki” by Kyu Sakamoto in 1963, the first and only Asian number one single on the pop singles music chart of all pop singles music charts! And that was 46 years ago! And this will be one real good reason for me to love my 2009 Billboard Hot 100 #1s CD compilation by year’s end. Hooray!!!

    I can only imagine who’ll Charice dethrone from the top spot… and for how many weeks she will stay! Let’s pray hard and be proud for Charice! :D

    I read these comments and just laugh. Please you people need to get a grip on reality. She’s a good singer but the whole reason she’s gotten so much media attention is because people think of her as a kid/child star. She’s already 16 and still so short. She will not get any taller and i’m sorry but she’s way to short to be a star, and too cutesy will never look not-kid like.
